Scarves!

I bought this yarn with my mom in mind in Italy, and I wanted to make this braided scarf from Loop-d-Loop, but it just wasn't working for me. Something about the weight of it. Of course, at this point I had already pulled four skeins into one, discovering that it's a real bitch trying to undo it.

Actually, it's almost impossible.

So here I am, stuck with a very heavy cotton yarn. I fashioned this out of it instead. It's got a fun silver strand running through, and if my apartment had any light whatsoever, you might be able to see it.

The color reminds me of this sweater my mom made herself in the early '80s. It was lavender and had victorian sleeves, and I loved it to death. I think she let me wear it once.

I'm posting now, and I know she's going to see it before I give it to her.... Happy holidays, mom! It's just one of your presents anyway.

This scarf was my first attempt at lace... it's knitty's "branching out" pattern, done in 2 skeins of Webs Deerfield in Lizard Green, size 9 needles. I love this yarn. It's super soft. It's wool and alpaca. Yum.

Oops! You almost got away with me not seeing the scarves which are beautiful. But almost only counts in horseshoes so today, 12/15/06, I have viewed my beautiful scarf and your perfectly gorgeous attempts at lace. Sorry about that. And it's the first time I've seen your postings since some time in November. Who knew! If I'd only waited one more week I would have been REALLY surprised. ILY, Mom
