Me versus NYC pothole.

I tripped and fell in a pothole, on the corner of 23rd and Park ave south.

Smash. Knee perpendicular to the pavement, thank goodness, because there was no need for painful abrasion scrubbing. But it hurt and swelled up pretty quickly.

So I hobble over to the New York Sports Club (where I am NOT a member) and ask for some wipes, a bandage, an icepack. 5 minutes later, I ask for an EMT. They were really nice to me (must write a thank-you note.)

Just last week, a girl I met at the gym twisted her knee in the dance class. It was totally deja-vu.

They check me out, recommend I go to the hospital for x-rays.

They wheel me into the street.

Then I hear my name being called out.

Nothing like having one of your STUDENTS watch you get wheeled into an ambulance to add insult to injury. Literally.

(I'm OK, though. Bruised and battered, but nothing broken.)

Oh Great. I don't have a chance to look at your blog for weeks and for some reason I choose to look at it today (I swear, I must have some sort of ESP although I don't know what sort). And did you phone home ET? Not a chance. We still have your crutches you know. Hope you are okay. Nothing like being on a need-to-know basis. Geez!!! Mom
