Ephesus and the beach
I asked Jesse and Seline if I should go to the beach or go to Ephesus. I had a feeling that it would be a lot like Pompeii in Italy... large, lots of buildings that all looked alike, hot as fuck. I am not into history, and I've seen a lot of ruins in my day, but I thought that I SHOULD go to Ephesus. You know, see and learn some shit instead of spending another day lazing away on the beach, tanning myself for vanity's sake.
Ephesus is nothing like Pompeii. It has the best-preserved ruins in Western Europe, and it's beautiful!!! I really enjoyed walking around and seeing all the Greek writing on these well-preserved columns. It was also exciting to find out that there was a beach just a stone's throw from Ephesus... I am so glad I had the foresight to pack my bathing suit and sarong. Never travel anywhere without a sarong... It's a blanket on the sand, a picnic in the park, and a modesty protector when you realize you have to change into your bathing suit on the beach in front of everyone. Which I'm getting really good at.
This beach had even fewer people than the other one. It's also full of these mini palm trees that have been planted all in a row, and serves as a natural umbrella that no one has to rent. People were napping under the hot sun, sheltered by little palm trees.
What a great couple of days. Drama and ripoff-free, and with really great company. It makes for boring writing, but it was a really nice, calm change of pace.
